Financial Inclusion and Digital Transformation have been on the frontline of the Egyptian government’s development agenda. Citizens and businesses alike have been encouraged to adopt electronic payment services, especially during the current precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of Coronavirus. In line with this vision, CreditGo for electronic payment services launched its new mobile application.

The application, which is free for all android users, is an alternative for POS devices, providing a faster channel than any of the traditional electronic payment service devices out there.

“With CreditGo, we saw the need to facilitate easier, convenient, and on the go payment services for Egypt’s everyday person from tuk-tuk and taxi drivers, to corner coffee shops and home business owners. A simple, user-friendly interface available for free for any android user, CreditGo allows merchants to carry out any electronic payment services they need such as recharging mobile phone balances and paying bills, allowing the unbanked and irregular workforce to increase and improve their income,” said Sherine Ewase, Deputy CEO of CreditGo

The registration is an easy process that only requires the entry of the national ID number, after which any individual wanting to join the CreditGo community can do so. With a target market estimated at 2.2 million and continuing to grow, CreditGo aims to address a diverse and broad segment of the Egyptian society.

Ewase highlighted the importance of financial inclusion and integration that CreditGo delivers “the application incorporates special features to adapt to individuals that hard of sight, allowing them to use it, such as the team of agents we’ve on boarded in Port Said.” Since the beta launch of the application, Credit Go has achieved 2 million pounds in change in under 19 weeks, resulting in 55,000 transactions carried out by 1,500 CreditGo users.

The CreditGo solution has had a positive impact on the community and economic development of the country, earning the Social Impact Award from StartEgypt, given in cooperation between Flat6 Labs and the British Embassy in Cairo.

Anyone with a valid national ID card can become a representative of CreditGo, by simply downloading the application and becoming an agent providing on the go electronic payment services to those around. By having their very own digital POS system on their device, users can increase their income and become financially independent by collecting a percentage that CreditGo gives for using the service.

Continually developing and ensuring an efficient and convenient service, CreditGo offers its merchants multiple recharge channels such as sales agents, ATMs, digital wallets of different telecom companies, and the Egyptian post office.
