By: Mostafa Ibrahim - Dina Abdel Moneim

The technology sector is currently witnessing a state of acceleration in technologies, the most important of which are big data, data analysis, multiple computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and the increasing interference of robots in our lives and institutions, and we are now in the stage - to be or not to be. To achieve a qualitative leap forward in the era of establishing interconnected relationships between humans and machines, it will require every company to transform into a digital company. Software is the basic foundation for operating its business. Companies must also move quickly and enhance their capabilities by relying on machines, in addition to preparing their infrastructure and empowering their cadres. humanity to be the driving force for this change.”

To clarify the facts and challenges, “Alam Rakamy” had this meeting with Mohamed Amin, Senior Vice President of the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Turkey and Africa Region at Dell Technologies, which specializes in developing systems, software, networks, and data and information storage services, on the sidelines of the Dell Technologies Forum 2023. Which was held recently in Cairo, and in response to a question from “Digital World” about the impact of the Egyptian government’s pumping of about 120 billion dollars in the field of infrastructure for building cities, smart roads, and industrial cities in developing the Egyptian demand for technology, he did not have the opportunity to visit these cities, because he lives Outside Egypt, but we hope that these investments in the field of infrastructure will have positive effects on reviving technological spending.

All government institutions and private institutions will embrace the process of digital transformation to improve their services and double productivity, not to mention improving the lives of citizens in general, and this is what we want to see reflected on the ground.

He added that relying on technological solutions and developing them locally is the main tool that ensures that all local economic and service sectors keep pace with their progress in the process of sustainable and comprehensive development.

In response to a question from “Alam Rakamy” about the company’s role in developing local solutions that suit global needs, we already have a center of excellence in Egypt. It is a global center and it serves the European and Middle East region with the competencies present in Egypt, and we have many solutions that have been developed and produced in the Egyptian “center of excellence.” It includes solutions for digital transformation and blockchain, and we are already applying them in other countries in Europe and the Middle East.

Regarding the integrated solutions that the company can provide to business institutions in light of the digital transformation process, Amin said, thanks to the enormous size that Dell Technologies enjoys, it will have a great ability to provide more efficient and cost-effective solutions to customers. In addition to all of this, although the company will announce its financial results, it remains a private sector entity, which enables it to better focus on investing in customers and developing a unified system for partners in the long term that will include providing distinguished value-added services to customers and to be more Closer to them and provide appropriate solutions according to their needs.

    Computing and peripherals

In response to a question from “Digital World” about the future relationship between increasing the ability of final network peripheral devices to make decisions independently and immediately without referring to data centers, and medicine on cloud computing, Muhammad Amin confirmed that cloud computing is currently witnessing a significant growth in global demand, whether public computing or private computing. Or hybrid computing, or what we call multi-computing, because this concept does not provide the speed and efficiency to meet the needs of all business institutions for the technology infrastructure to begin the process of digital transformation and increase their competitive capabilities. Edge computing will also launch a new era of innovations in business. In today’s world, which Data-driven, moving large amounts of data from its source to a central data center or to the cloud is both very expensive and inefficient. In the same vein, a company can realize real value when computing resources are moved to a point closer to where data is generated and consumed.

He added that edge computing will continue its very rapid growth in 2023 and the coming years, and will quickly become a major differentiation tool for the organizations that adopt it. It will also unleash a new era of business transformation, and edge computing will enable new use cases across many sectors and markets.

    Future strategy

Regarding the future strategy aspects of Dell Technologies, Muhammad Amin said that the company plans to become one of the 3 largest companies in the world in the field of information technology, especially with its achievement of about 11% growth rate for its business, as it is currently based on 3 main axes, the first of which is “generative artificial intelligence.” Artificial intelligence will become the engine of innovation in every organization, as the journey to achieve smart, automated and effective results for companies begins with the adoption of artificial intelligence, which we expect to reach an important turning point in the next year, as we will witness its adoption in every organization, regardless of its size.
