Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the trial launch of
the “Braidy” service, which is the ideal development for the registered message service and recorded
proof of delivery in its well-known concept using the latest technologies, and the launch of the “Wasla
Express” service for e-commerce services, in addition to the launch of the official website of the
Egyptian Post.
This came during the visit made by Dr. Amr Talaat to the headquarters of the National Postal Authority
in Smart Village on the occasion of Postal Day, which falls on January 2 of each year, where he was
received by Dr. Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Postal Authority.
Dr. Amr Talaat held an expanded meeting attended by members of the Board of Directors of the
National Postal Authority. Dr. Amr Talaat listened to a detailed explanation about the results of the work
of the National Postal Authority for the year 2023. The total number of post offices nationwide
increased to 4,527 post offices, including 80 postal kiosks and 130 mobile cars. The number of
developed post offices also increased to 3,840 post offices. The number of transactions that took place
in post offices reached about 253.4 million transactions during the year 2023, up from 184.7 million
transactions during 2022.
During the meeting; Dr. Amr Talaat confirmed that the National Postal Authority is an ancient body that
looks to the future and is considered a major player in the communications and information technology
sector. Praising the achievements made by the authority over the past period in terms of the growth of
its profits and the expansion of the portfolio of services it provides, which vary between postal, banking
and governmental services, whether existing services that have been developed or new services in line
with the needs of citizens.
Dr. Amr Talaat explained the most prominent achievements achieved by the communications and
information technology sector during the year 2023; Pointing out that the sector is the highest growing
sector in the country over 5 consecutive years, with a growth rate of 16.3% during the last fiscal year.
Pointing out that a strategy has been developed to develop the outsourcing industry and to make Egypt
one of the main countries in this industry. He added that Egypt ranked third globally in the “trust index
in sites providing cross-border outsourcing services.”
Dr. Amr Talaat pointed out that the outsourcing strategy was based on the steady expansion of all
training initiatives in all ICT specializations and expanding the trainee base as one of the most important
factors that contribute to attracting international companies in the field of outsourcing to invest in
Egypt. Pointing out that from November 2022 until the end of 2023, a number of agreements were
signed with 48 international companies that aim to establish outsourcing centers in Egypt or expand
their existing centers in Egypt, through which 60,000 job opportunities will be created over 3 years.
Dr. Amr Talaat added that the number and budget of training have been increased from 4,000 training
opportunities with a budget of 50 million pounds in the 2018/2019 fiscal year to a target of 400,000
training opportunities with investments of 1.7 billion pounds during the current fiscal year. The
establishment of training centers and incubators for emerging companies has also been expanded. In
2019, six Digital Egypt Creativity Centers were established, and the number of centers was increased to
20. Eight new centers are scheduled to open in 2024, with the aim of reaching a center in each
governorate to incubate emerging companies and provide training opportunities in the specializations of
communications and information technology.
During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat witnessed the experimental launch of the “Braidy” service, which
provides registered e-mail service. It is an electronic mailbox designed to provide secure electronic
correspondence services between the government sector, private companies, and citizens through a
single digital platform that is secure, free of spam, and easy to use. Citizens will have one application to
facilitate access to their confidential personal data contained in the digital vault. The platform is a digital
treasury that allows all government agencies throughout the Republic to communicate with each other
and with citizens in a secure and encrypted digital manner in all data, documents and certificates. To
ensure the protection of all personal data, all tests of the registered email system and the secure digital
vault have been completed successfully. Their actual launch is expected during the first quarter of 2024.
Dr. Amr Talaat also witnessed the launch of the “Wasla Express” service, which is the result of the
development of the Wasla service that was launched two years ago, where it was updated, developed,
and many features were added to it. Including the possibility of obtaining the location by linking with GIS
maps to facilitate the distributor’s access to the customer, whether the sender or the recipient. Through
the application, all orders are displayed to distributors located within the same geographical area closest
to the location of the order. The representative accepts the order and goes to the customer to receive
the shipment and collect the shipping fee, and from there he goes. Directly for the delivery process to
the addressee, the amount due to the sender, if any, is collected. Then the representative goes to the
nearest post office to deposit the collection amount, if any, and the mail shipping fees.
On his part; Dr. Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Postal Authority,
thanked Dr. Amr Talaat for his continuous and unlimited support for the Egyptian Post. He said that the
Egyptian Post is a national entity that was born great and has, since its inception, written success stories
that have transcended the borders of the nation through the honorable efforts of people whose passion
is love for the homeland and whose primary concern is serving the Egyptians and meeting their needs.
