The Scientific Research and Innovation Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation, in cooperation with inDrive, has successfully implemented and concluded a comprehensive awareness and training program aimed at equipping children with essential programming and artificial intelligence (AI) skills.
Delivered under the umbrella of the “Empowering Students Through Digital Literacy” project, the four-month program targeted children of inDrive captains alongside students in community schools across Cairo, Fayoum, Sohag. A total of 327 students, aged between 9 and 16, participated in the initiative, in addition to training 30 facilitators from local schools to ensure the sustainability of knowledge transfer.
Throughout the program, students were introduced to key digital skills, including Scratch and Python programming, as well as practical applications of AI in app development. They successfully developed real projects ranging from calculators to to-do applications, enhancing their logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creativity.
The initiative aimed not only to build technical competencies but also to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among students—encouraging them to become creators of innovative solutions rather than passive consumers of technology.
The Feedback from participants and parents highlighted the program’s impact:
“It helped me learn programming in a fun and easy way; now I can build my own applications.”
“Creating projects in Scratch and understanding how AI works was fun and exciting.”
“I noticed significant improvement in my child’s logical thinking and problem-solving skills after the program.”
Alaa Al Din Shalaby inDrive Country Manager commented :”We are proud to partner with the Scientific Research and Innovation Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation to deliver this impactful program. At inDrive, we believe every child deserves access to future-ready skills, regardless of their background. Through our loyalty program, we are committed to empowering the children of our captains, as well as students in community schools, with essential knowledge in programming and artificial intelligence preparing them for a rapidly evolving labor market.”
Dr. Nagwa El-Sayed, Head of the Scientific Research and Innovation Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation, emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it plays a vital role in nurturing a generation capable of innovation and creative problem-solving from an early age. She added that the program adopts hands-on, applied learning methodologies, enabling students to transform their knowledge into practical projects.
She further highlighted that training facilitators within community schools is a key component of the initiative, ensuring the long-term sustainability of its impact and supporting the localization of digital knowledge in underserved communities.
The program concluded with a final exhibition showcasing the students’ projects, attended by experts from the technology sector, providing participants with valuable exposure and opportunities to engage within an innovation-driven environment.
Through this partnership, inDrive also aims to strengthen its presence in Upper Egypt by engaging in volunteering, mentorship, and participation in judging panels. The collaboration opens further opportunities to support outstanding students through scholarships, incubation programs, and participation in local and international competitions.
