The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, has concluded the Digi-Safe program, organized from August 10 to September 3 in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and Port Said. The program, part of the Digital Citizenship and Online Safety initiative, reached 590 participants, including teachers, welfare specialists, and students.

Digi-Safe paired capacity-building for education staff with hands-on student engagement, using participatory training and awareness sessions built around real-life digital scenarios, case discussions, teamwork exercises, and practical guidance on how to respond to and intervene in online incidents.

Sessions covered recent developments in the digital space, responsible AI use, the risks of sharing personal data with AI tools, and protection against online threats such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, grooming, and digital blackmail, alongside gaming and app use, screen time, privacy and data protection, password security, multi-factor authentication, and how to report issues and seek help.

The program also promoted the idea of a school environment that actively supports digital safety, bringing teachers, schools, and families together to help students navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Students were trained to act as "digital citizenship ambassadors," passing on what they learned to their peers and leading awareness activities in their schools, shifting their role from passive recipients to active contributors to a safer school environment.

Digi-Safe builds on a 2025 initiative that brought digital citizenship and safety training to public schools in Cairo, Alexandria, and Port Said, reaching more than 1,000 teachers, welfare specialists, and students. The initiative is part of a broader effort to raise a generation that can use technology and AI safely and responsibly, in support of a secure and sustainable digital society.
