Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that the Smart Living dashboard has been used 5.5 million times since the launch of the initiative until December 2020, while the feature of viewing, comparing, and downloading bills has been used more than 435,000 times.

More than 3,000 customers have used the Away Mode, which sends customers daily or weekly reports by email while away from home.

The customers praised the innovative features which are easy and accessible on DEWA’s website and smart app.

They noted that the initiative had helped them better understand the monthly bill and make smart decisions to conserve and monitor consumption proactively without having to contact DEWA. The customers have also commended the ‘My Sustainable Living Programme’, which helped them reduce their daily consumption by comparing it with similar homes.

Customers said that DEWA Store helped them turn their homes into smart ones through the exclusive offers it provides for smart home systems and devices that control consumption, in addition to water and energy saving devices.

Customers said that the Away Mode feature of the Smart Living initiative enabled them to monitor their electricity and water consumption while they were away from home. At the same time, the High Water Usage Alert sends them instant alerts in case of leakage of unusual consumption. This helped them fix leakages immediately and stop waste.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, highlighted the customer’s substantial role in supporting DEWA’s efforts to achieve the wise leadership’s vision and enhance sustainable development. This is through conserving electricity and water and preserving valuable natural resources. “DEWA strives to empower customers to make smart conservation decisions.

It provides smart and innovative services with added value that uses the latest disruptive technologies, smart grids and smart meters to reduce cost and our carbon footprint. DEWA provides awareness and incentive programmes that help customers benefit from the accurate and instant information provided through our smart channels, so they can resolve any issues that might be causing higher than usual consumption,” said Al Tayer.

Customers can log into their DEWA accounts on the website or smart app and update their ‘Consumption Pattern’ file to benefit from the Smart Living initiative services. This enables them to track their consumption data and benefit from conservation tips tailored to each customer and other benefits.
