In view of the company’s strategic vision of the importance of cybersecurity in cyberspace, and its strategic partnership with British security software firm Sophos, Digital Planets, a leading technology company and a partner of the most important providers of telecommunications and IT solutions, has organised the “International Protection Day” Conference in Cairo. Under the auspices of Sophos, the event is aimed to acquaint Egypt’s economic community with the importance of cybersecurity in the era of digital transformation, which always necessitates readiness with smart security systems.
The event witnessed the participation of prominent decision-makers from major companies and institutions of the Egyptian economic sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, tourism, and e-commerce. The participants included representatives from pharmacy chain 19011, e-commerce web site Souq.com, Wadi Degla Sporting Club, Misr International University (MIU), Ra Sport, along with other key players in the Egyptian market.
“The Protection Day Conference of Digital Planets comes in conjunction with the International Cybersecurity Day, in which the company, in collaboration with its key partner Sophos, is keen on raising awareness of major Egyptian firms of cybersecurity,” Ahmed Hanafy, founder and managing director of Digital Planets, said.
On the side-lines of the event, Digital Planets launched “Connect Plus” bundles to link the branches of retail chains to their headquarters by using secure, start-of-the-art, and full-fledged solutions. Connect Plus uses connection service provided by Telecom Egypt, as well as up-to-date devices secured by Sophos.
“The sponsorship of Sophos to this event is part of its keenness to support its strategic partner, Digital Planets, to combat cyberattacks, which weigh on Egypt’s economy. The Protection Day also marked the presence of representatives of Sophos, which emphasises its commitment toward the Egyptian market and its strategic vision of the significance of Egypt as an attractive market to foreign investment,” Hanafy added.
The forecast losses arising from cyberattacks will exceed $2 trillion this year over the globe, according to a raft of recent studies. These findings draw attention of decision-makers to the necessity of readiness to counter these attacks and heighten the need to disseminate awareness of cybersecurity, particularly among various economic sectors.
