The Grand Final of the Intel Campus Cup (ICC) 2025 was successfully held on Friday, December 19, at the Hassan Mostafa Indoor Hall in 6th of October City, marking a milestone moment for university esports in Egypt.
The tournament attracted strong participation and turnout, with more than 100,000 university students engaging throughout the competition, and a record 3,000 students attending the grand finale.
After a series of highly competitive matches featuring top universities from across the country, Ain Shams University emerged as the champion of the Intel Campus Cup 2025, claiming the tournament title.
The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of his Excellency Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, who delivered a keynote addressing the important role of esports and digital activities in engaging and empowering university students.
In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the growing importance of esports as a platform for youth development, innovation, and digital skills.
Jesus Sanchez, EMEA Consumer Markets Director at Intel, commented on the impressive growth of the Egypt gaming market, praising the scale, energy, and professionalism of the Intel Campus Cup, describing it as a world-class esports experience.
Sanchez said the Intel Campus Cup built on Intel’s longstanding leadership in global esports through world-class tournaments like the Intel Extreme Masters. He said he was inspired by Egypt’s gaming infrastructure, and the success of its young gamers in turning the country into a regional gaming powerhouse.
He added that the Intel Campus Cup 2025 reaffirmed Intel’s commitment to supporting youth, innovation, and the rapidly growing esports ecosystem in Egypt and the wider Middle East, home to an estimated 40 million gamers.
Sanchez also previewed upcoming Intel innovations, including the Intel Core™ Ultra Series 3, the first native AI platform built on Intel’s latest 18A process node, which is expected to be announced at CES in Las Vegas in January. He said this will deliver a 50% enhancement in overall performance and 30% less power consumption compared to the previous generation, as well as advanced integrated graphics. He said gamers should expect much thinner laptops and longer battery life as AI unlocked richer experiences and enhanced capabilities.
“As gaming continues to evolve, AI will play a transformative role, from smarter gameplay and performance optimization to more immersive and secure experiences,” Sanchez concluded. “Intel is proud to lead this future with innovations like our upcoming Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors.”
