Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO, Red Dot, congratulated Ericsson on its Red Dot: Best of the Best Award for the Ericsson AIR 3239 - part of the Ericsson Radio System.
“Our experienced jury only awards the Red Dot: Best of the Best to the most convincing products in a category – this is why only a small percentage of the objects entered win this award,” he says. “It is proof that every detail of the design is coherent and well thought through.”
Ericsson also scooped a Red Dot Design Award for its Ericsson Radio Dot 4475 – gaining the seal of approval from the jury for the product’s high design quality.
Per Narvinger, Head of Product Area Networks, Ericsson, says: “Ericsson continues to relentlessly innovate technologies that are easy to use and scale. Once again, we receive the affirmation from Red Dot that our Ericsson Radio System products are living up to our brand’s promise, and we are delivering high-performance solutions with attractive design.”
Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Product Design Awards is one of the world’s largest design competitions appraising the best products created every year. The judging criteria includes, amongst others: degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content, product periphery, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility.
This year’s awards join an extensive trophy cabinet of Red Dot Awards for the company. In 2019, Ericsson scooped four Red Dot Design Awards for its portfolio, five Red Dot Awards for hardware products in 2017, and two Red Dot Awards in 2016.
