OLX released its data for the past 14 months (Jan 2021 until Feb 2022), showcasing impressive growth as trust in e-commerce blossomed across the country. In the 14 months to date, OLX lived up to its legacy in Egypt as the go-to platform across categories. Whether you’re looking for a new car, in the midst of a house hunt, or seeking a great job opportunity, OLX is where you should look.

Throughout 2021 to Feb 2022, tens of millions of users nationwide actively searched and secured winning deals across the cars, real estate, job search, goods and services, and various listings on the platform. OLX had massive numbers to boast for the past 14 months, particularly with Egypt moving towards digital transformation and improving digital services and transactions and OLX’s solid reputation as Egyptians’ go-to platform across categories.

Digging into the figures, OLX users submitted more than 19 million inquiries on properties for sale and rent across unit types, be they apartments, standalone villas, duplexes, or studios. Of these, a colossal 13 million inquiries pertained to apartments. Total unique property buyers stood at an impressive 5.9 million, including secured sales across East and West Cairo, the North Coast, the New Administrative Capital, and Red Sea destinations. Impressively, the OLX property category had almost 81.5 million page visits throughout the 14 months, suggesting that platform visitors are actively using the platform in researching primary and resale units alike, across income brackets.

In the cars category, there were more than 5.2 million unique buyers and a mammoth demand of almost 26 million inquiries during the 14 months. Mitsubishi, Kia, Nissan and Hyundai were among the most sought-after car brands, across a range of models. The cars category alone had almost 201 million visits from January 2021 until Feb 2022, reflecting consistent demand on the platform.

OLX’s mass contribution to Egyptians and the local economy is also clear through its jobs category, serving close to 10 million job seekers. An average of 2 million people visited the jobs category every month, with OLX far outweighing peers in terms of jobs offered and number of candidates served. Impressively, the goods category witnessed collective demand of over 32 million inquiries and more than 149 million page visits. This demonstrates OLX’s capacity for serving a breadth of client needs.

“We are immensely pleased with OLX’s contribution to the Egyptian people with millions served across income categories in the past 14 months, which witnessed the Egyptian economy’s gradual recovery from the Covid-19 repercussions. Our auto category, for example, has witnessed 1.17 million ads during such a period. OLX’S continuing solid figures in the first 2 months of 2022 shape our prospective plans to focus on the real estate, car and job categories, as well as strengthening our ties with key industry leaders in the ecosystem,” said the OLX Egypt Country Manager, Sherif Nahtawy.

“I am thrilled that OLX Egypt has successfully positioned itself as the go-to platform for buying and selling goods and services, across real estate, cars, and numerous other categories. We’re so looking forward to capitalizing on the unlimited opportunities awaiting us moving forward in the Egyptian market,” he added.
