Telecom Egypt, the first integrated telecommunications operator in Egypt and one of the largest submarine cable operators in the region, and Aqua Comms, one of the providers of international interconnection services for submarine cables, signed a landing and transit agreement for the submarine cable Europe Middle-East India Connect 1 (EMIC). -1) in Egypt.
Under this agreement, Telecom Egypt will provide a land and sea path for the EMIC-1 system using fiber-optic cables across East Africa, Asia and Europe, and the new cable connects the three continents through this path and provides Internet services to more than 3 billion people, as it accommodates the increasing demand for data services in The most developed regions of the world use those services. The new marine system is in line with the sustainable goals of D9 (the company that owns Aquacoms) to improve communication services around the world and bridge the digital divide.
The submarine cable will be lowered through the landing stations in Ras Ghareb on the Red Sea and Port Said on the Mediterranean. The two landing points are connected via two different land tracks using the latest optical fiber technologies, and the new tracks pass along the Suez Canal between the cities of Suez and Port Said.
In addition, a new third marine transit route is added, which is the "Red Sea Festoon", which connects the stations of Ras Ghareb and Suez, with the possibility of adding the "Morshideen Road" route that connects Port Said and Suez through the land tracks on the bank of the Suez Canal, which provides a new level of flexibility and diversity for solutions transit services.
For his part, Eng. Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, said, "We are pleased to provide interconnection services for the new submarine cable of Aquacoms."
