Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, the Swedish Ambassador to Cairo, emphasized that artificial intelligence will be a key field in the coming years. He stressed that discussions should not be limited to the development of the technologies themselves but must extend to how they are utilized and leveraged effectively by individuals, companies, and societies alike.
These remarks were made during his participation in the opening of Techne Summit Alexandria 2026, held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from October 3 to 5. He noted that Sweden ranks among the world’s most innovative nations, driven by robust scientific research and a culture that fosters creativity. He also highlighted the contributions of Swedish companies to artificial intelligence, clean innovation, and the support of Egypt’s startup ecosystem.
He further explained that rapid technological advancements are creating new avenues for collaboration between the innovation ecosystems of Egypt and Sweden, facilitating the exchange of expertise and the formation of new partnerships among companies, entrepreneurs, and innovators in both countries. The Swedish Ambassador to Cairo expressed his anticipation of seeing more Swedish companies in Egypt in the coming years, alongside increased engagement with Egyptian startups and entrepreneurs.
Accompanied by Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher—CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), representing the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology—the Ambassador toured the exhibition held alongside the summit. They viewed solutions and the latest products from Egyptian startups across various fields, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
