“Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) works in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and our wise leadership’s vision that places human health at the top of its priorities for sustainable development.
As a socially responsible organisation, DEWA adopts the best and latest international practices that ensure the safety of all stakeholders. DEWA prioritises occupational health and safety and keeps pace with the latest developments in these areas.
This stems from our realisation of the importance of health and safety in protecting lives, properties and providing a safe, healthy, and happy work environment. It also increases operational efficiency and achieves excellence.
This supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai a home for healthy and educated individuals. DEWA proves its commitment every day to take all the necessary measures to protect society and ensure people's health as well as promoting positivity and happiness among its staff,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA supports the directives of our wise leadership to limit the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and has adopted a comprehensive plan with all necessary precautionary measures. These include using advanced equipment for early detection and diagnosis of health conditions, implementing home quarantine for employees or their family members returning from abroad, in addition to implementing physical distancing across all facilities.
DEWA also applies rotational shifts for jobs that cannot be done remotely, keeping employees to the minimum to maintain production. Staff working in shifts use different locations compared to their colleagues in the previous shift. DEWA has a special plan for sterilising its facilities regularly, in line with the highest international and health standards, using high-quality approved disinfectants and sterilisers to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
Thanks to DEWA’s state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, all our services are available through DEWA’s website and smart app, so all customers can benefit from our services through our smart channels and there is no need for them to visit our centres. This ensures the safety and happiness of all stakeholders,” said Al Tayer.
