Allows to reduce construction cost and enhance data transfer time: A partnership between Telecom Egypt and Zain-Omantel International to create a direct digital corridor linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Arabian Sea

    Telecom Egypt - the first integrated telecommunications operator in Egypt and one of the largest submarine cable operators in the region - revealed its cooperation with Zain-Omantel International (ZOI), a regional company specialized in wholesale business in the Middle East, which reaches more than 20 international submarine cables. In the region - to create a digital corridor linking the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Arabian Gulf region, making it an unprecedented path for data transfer between the continents of Asia and Europe.

    The innovative infrastructure of this digital corridor will extend from the coast of the Sultanate of Oman overlooking the Arabian Sea and the Arabian Gulf to the Mediterranean coast of the Arab Republic of Egypt, through an advanced mix of land and sea paths using a large number of optical fibers. Technically, the land paths extending across the Sultanate are distinguished. Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt with reliability and the highest levels of protection. On the other hand, the connection will be made directly between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt via a submarine cable through the Red Sea, which is characterized by high capacities and uses a large number of optical fibers and a short distance between the two landing points.

    This corridor was designed to provide partners and customers of Telecom Egypt and Zain-Omantel International (ZOI) with integrated solutions directly between landing points from the Arabian Sea to the Mediterranean, as well as being in line with the infrastructure expansion plans of Zain-Omantel International (ZOI) to include multiple regions, including This includes the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Iraq, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, through the Zain-Omantel International (ZOI) network, and cooperation with companies licensed to lower submarine cables in each country.

    This cooperation provides submarine cable owners with new, unprecedented and competitive solutions through which they can significantly reduce construction costs, enhance data transfer time and flexibility, and further accelerate operations by connecting to this open corridor. Telecom Egypt will also develop new infrastructure across the Republic of... Arabia, linking Bahrain and the Mediterranean with the European continent, and integrating with Zain-Omantel International (ZOI) infrastructure in many regions across the Middle East, and the new network corridor will result in shorter paths and faster response time for data arrival, making it the best option for crossing the ocean.
