(NTRA) Participates in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC2025) in Azerbaijan

    The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is participating in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC25), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The conference, held from November 17-28, 2025, in Baku, Azerbaijan, is themed "Global, Meaningful, and Affordable Connectivity for an Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Future." The NTRA is represented by a high-level delegation headed by Eng. Mohamed Shamroukh, CEO of the NTRA.

     

    During the conference's opening ceremony, Eng. Shamroukh delivered a speech addressing emerging technologies in the telecommunications sector. He also held several bilateral meetings with the heads of telecommunications regulatory bodies from South Africa, Nigeria, and Brazil, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology of China, Japan, and the United States, in addition to the Director of the ITU Standardization Bureau. The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) also organized a reception for participating delegations on the sidelines of the conference to promote Egypt's candidacy for membership in the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference in 2026. The reception was attended by Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the ITU, Mr. Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Secretary-General, directors of the ITU's development, radiocommunication, and standardization bureaus, as well as heads of telecommunications regulatory authorities participating in the conference.

    It is worth noting that the NTRA chairs two subcommittees at the conference: the Infrastructure Committee and the Emerging Technologies Committee.
