Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Municipality to consolidate cooperation on developing a geolocation infrastructure project in Dubai as part of the Geo Dubai initiative.
The MoU also includes sharing information and data to provide a comprehensive, updated and unified geolocation map for Dubai.
The MoU includes planning, designing and managing development projects in the future between both parties.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD & CEO of DEWA, and HE Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, signed the MoU.
"The cooperation between government entities in Dubai is especially important as this is the 'Year of the Fiftieth,' when we collaborate with our partners to ensure Dubai's readiness and enhance its competitiveness and leadership.
We also aim to put Dubai at the forefront of cities that anticipate and shape the future, and embark on further progress, prosperity and growth to make the UAE the world's leading nation by its Centennial in 2071.
Our cooperation with Dubai Municipality and its Geographical Information System (GIS) Centre aims to develop a comprehensive and sustainable geolocation infrastructure that enhances smart and innovative services for customers according to the highest international standards to support the decision-making process.
This aligns with the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the city of the future and transform the Government of Dubai into a fully digital government," said Al Tayer.
"DEWA effectively contributes to Dubai's progress in leading the future, by reworking the traditional concepts of work mechanisms to suit rapid global changes.
We also employ creativity, innovation and technology in addition to the latest disruptive technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution applications," added Al Tayer.
"We have signed this memorandum in fulfilment of the wise leadership's vision for Dubai to become the smartest and happiest city in the world.
This memorandum promotes the values of cooperation, integration and sharing among the various government entities in the Emirate to achieve its goals, and reflects positively on the comprehensive development of Dubai in various fields, especially geospatial infrastructure and geographical maps.
The Geo Dubai initiative, launched by the GIS Centre in Dubai Municipality, has strengthened Dubai's global leadership and position, which embodies the vision of the wise leadership towards adopting all means that contribute to planning and designing a better future for future generations," said HE Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.
