Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has provided new services and benefits on its smart app through Apple Watch to enhance smart adoption and make Dubai the best place to work and live. These include utility bill details and tariff slabs, accessing the Smart Living dashboard, as well as daily, weekly, and monthly consumption reports with comparison to similar homes, through the My Sustainable Living Programme. Customers can view their customised plan to reduce waste and consumption.
Through Apple Watch, customers can now activate the ‘Away Mode’ service to get notifications of unusual consumption when travelling or away from home. Customers can learn about the latest news, discounts and offers on DEWA Store for energy and water-saving devices.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that DEWA provides all its services on its website and smart app in addition to several smart channels for customers to complete their transactions anytime and anywhere. This saves their time and effort and contributes to protecting the environment as well as reduces carbon emissions.
“DEWA works to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the city of the future. DEWA also supports the Smart Dubai initiative and the Demand Side Management Strategy, which aims to reduce 30% of electricity and water demand by 2030.
This is by encouraging stakeholders to conserve electricity and water and protect natural resources. DEWA’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and its efforts to keep pace with the latest Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies have helped accelerate and automate all transactions for customers and employees.
This enhances society happiness and provides them seamless and instant services round the clock. DEWA has completed its electronic integration with more than 30 entities. Smart transactions completed from 2017 until June 2021 have reached 39.3 million transactions. Smart adoption of DEWA’s services scored 98.92% in the second quarter of 2021.
DEWA was one of the first government entities that completed its digital transformation in 2014. In March this year, it received the 100% Paperless Stamp from Smart Dubai to recognise its success in eliminating paper use by 100%, in both internal and external transactions. DEWA also received the Hamdan bin Mohammed Program for Government Services Flag 2020 in the Best Government Initiative category for its Smart Living initiative,” added Al Tayer.
DEWA’s smart app on Apple Watches has been a feature since 2015. Since then and until the end of June 2021, the application has been updated and installed nearly 2.8 million times. Smart transactions completed through Apple Pay reached 625,000 transactions. Adding new services and benefits is part of DEWA’s efforts to encourage society members to benefit from the Smart Living initiative, which DEWA launched to promote a responsible lifestyle in electricity and water consumption. The initiative also helps them benefit from DEWA’s smart services to make conservation a culture and daily habit.
