    In-light with Ericsson's continuous efforts and collaborations with the Ministry of ICT in Egypt, a ministerial delegation led by H.E. Amr Talaat, Minister of ICT in Egypt, visited Ericsson's stand at the GITEX Global event held in Dubai between 17 and 21 October 2021. During the visit, Ericsson presented its latest 5G technology solutions for both consumers and enterprises.

     

    Ericsson continues to support Egypt by supporting the digitalization journey in the country while fostering local talents in-light with Egypt 2030 vision.    

     

    Ericsson also took the opportunity to continue the discussions on joint collaborations with the Ministry and ITIDA such as the recently announced HackathonEricsson Egypt Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence hub, Sultan Hussein Palace Innovation hub and many more projects that support innovation and ICT transformation.

     Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Telecom Egypt and Nokia International with the aim of building the first infrastructure in Egypt exclusively to provide Internet of Things services through Nokia's global network (WING). This is within the framework of Dr. Amr Talaat’s visit to Dubai, at the head of a high-level delegation, to participate in the activities of the 41st session of the “GITEX Global” exhibition and conference, and the “Expo 2020 Dubai”.

    The agreement was signed by Eng. Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, and Mr. Henrik Vall, Head of Cloud Services and Networks in the Middle East and Africa at Nokia.

    The (WING) network allows Telecom Egypt to provide Internet of Things services to companies on a global scale, enabling them to take advantage of the rapidly and effectively growing Internet of Things market based on the multi-service Nokia (WING) model, which includes global IoT infrastructure and a (Pay First) business model. First – Pay As You Grow), and (WING) enables Telecom Egypt to provide global Internet of Things service at low local prices compared to the most expensive roaming rates.

    The agreement also includes cooperation in launching joint delaying initiatives and accelerating the development of Internet of Things projects in the country, which will contribute to the automation of projects and help companies reduce their operating expenses, enhance productivity, and provide new services to markets faster.

    The signing ceremony was attended by Sherine El-Gendy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation, Eng. Mohamed Nasr El-Din, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the International Information Infrastructure, Eng. Amr El-Leithy, Senior Vice President of the company for the Middle East and Africa, and a number of Nokia global leaders.

    In a related context; Dr. Amr Talaat met with Ram Ramachandran, Senior Vice President and Head of Middle East and Africa for Tech Mahindra, which is one of the top 15 IT service providers in the world; The meeting dealt with ways of cooperation with the company in contributing to the implementation of digital transformation projects in Egypt, in addition to discussing the possibility of establishing a service center for the company in Egypt to serve its customers in the field of information technology in the various markets in which it operates around the world.

    During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat explained that Egypt is implementing many projects to achieve the transformation into an integrated digital society within the framework of its vision to build a digital Egypt. These projects include many opportunities to establish global partnerships to achieve digital transformation.

    Dr. Amr Talaat also stressed that there is great interest from the state in the outsourcing industry in light of the availability of all the ingredients for the success of this industry in Egypt. As Egypt enjoys a regional leadership and a distinguished position on the global map of this industry, it is also one of the best attractive destinations for international companies to expand their business and establish their specialized centers; He explained the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to build the digital capabilities of youth and the continuous development of the skills required for the outsourcing industry, in addition to developing the capabilities of young people and providing them with the necessary expertise to enable them in the global free labor market.

    Tech Mahindra is an Indian multinational subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, and is one of the fastest growing brands.

    The meeting was attended by Ambassador / Ashraf El-Deeb, Consul General of Egypt in Dubai, Eng. Amr Mahfouz, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Sherine El-Gendy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation, and Dr. Hossam Othman, Vice President of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency and Head of the Center Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Srinivas Reddy, Vice President and Head of the Company in the United Arab Emirates and Emerging Markets.

    Dr. Amr Talaat also met with Isabelle Grojour, Vice President of Amazon Web Services (AWS) for sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; To discuss the company's plans to expand its business in Egypt, and to enhance joint cooperation in the field of digital capacity building.

    The meeting also witnessed a review of the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Amazon Web Services (AWS) through the grant that was launched with the aim of graduating a new generation of data science professionals with an internationally accredited certificate.
