Creativa Innovation Hubs and UNDP Egypt have co-launched the DEDI Innovates Challenge to promote innovative technological and digital solutions that address Egypt’s environmental and climate challenges. The application deadline is October 23.

The challenge is implemented in partnership with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), part of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), under the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark. It is open to young people aged 18-35, who may apply individually or in teams of up to five members.

The challenge focuses on five key areas: energy, transportation, water, agriculture, and waste management. It is designed to encourage young innovators to leverage technology and innovation to create practical solutions to environmental challenges, while supporting the transition towards a green economy and sustainable development.

Participants will have the opportunity to turn their ideas into viable projects through intensive training bootcamps delivered online and in person across 12 governorates. The program will support them in developing and testing prototypes and building scalable green business models.

In this context, orientation sessions will be held across several governorates on October 18-21 to introduce the challenge and explain its participation requirements. Sessions are scheduled for Alexandria, Damanhour, and Mansoura on October 18; Cairo, Giza, Ismailia, and Damietta on October 19; and Minya, Qena, and Aswan on October 21.

Participants will benefit from specialized training and expert technical guidance and receive an official certificate issued by UNDP Egypt and Creativa Innovation Hubs upon completing the bootcamp. Outstanding projects may also qualify for a comprehensive business incubation program, helping entrepreneurs develop their ventures and prepare to launch their startups.

Applicants must have completed a previous ideation bootcamp or an equivalent program, developed a completed Business Model Canvas (BMC), and have an existing project prototype or proof of concept.

Creativa Innovation Hubs are a national initiative launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to foster digital innovation nationwide, empower Egyptian youth, build the capacities of entrepreneurs and startups, and support the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The hubs provide spaces for creativity, interaction, and collaboration, while hosting meetings, events, and workshops and supporting product testing, launches, and other collaborative activities.
