Under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, and patron of Dubai Quality Group, the Emirates Women Award honoured Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in recognition of its continuous support for the Award.
DEWA has been the main sponsor of the award for several years. The recognition came as part of a special ceremony organised by Dubai Quality Group in the presence of senior officials in the UAE.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, thanked the Award’s officials, expressing his happiness and pride with this recognition. Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s commitment to supporting national entities and initiatives that focus on women empowerment in all areas as well as highlighting the outstanding stories of women who inspire current and future generations in serving the nation, and society in all fields.
“We are keen to strengthen the position of the UAE and Dubai as a successful model for women empowerment regionally and globally. We attach great importance to supporting Emirati women who play a fundamental role in developing the Emirati society thanks to the empowerment journey that was initiated by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace. This journey is supported by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation). DEWA follows the wise leadership’s approach in supporting and empowering women, supporting women in the energy sector. DEWA's sponsorship of the Emirates Women Award is part of its ongoing efforts to support national initiatives that aim to empower women and promote their social participation, while enhancing their contribution to the sustainable development of the UAE,” said Al Tayer.
