The Spokesman for the Presidency ,Counselor Ahmed Fahmy,said that Dr. Amr Talaat briefed President El-Sisi about efforts to qualify and train Egyptian human resources in the field of information technology, through the "Digital Egypt" strategy.
The strategy aims to maximize digital exports and increase the number of people working in the sector, including freelancers or those in the outsourcing industry, through the establishment of an accredited training educational track in communication sciences and information technology.
The President was also briefed on the developments of a number of initiatives and projects, including "Egypt's digital cubs" and digital innovation centers, as well as the development of Egyptian Post offices, real estate registry offices, technology parks, and schools of applied technology nationwide.
The Minister of Communications and IT also pointed out that Egypt obtained the highest category in the GovTech Maturity Index for the year 2022, issued by the World Bank.
This is in addition to the progress of the National Postal Authority’s ranking in the Postal Development Index issued by the Universal Postal Union in 2022, to become the second in the Arab world and Africa and the 57th in the world, up from the 91 position.
The President gave directives to exert maximum effort to continue and increase that progress in all areas related to the communications and information technology sector.
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of providing all the necessary support to build and develop the capabilities of Egyptian youth, support start-up companies and encourage their expansion in the communications and information technology sector.
He also gave directives to continue the state's efforts to promote digital transformation, and the automation of administrative and governmental procedures to assist citizens and reduce time, effort and cost. This is while keeping up with the state-of-the-art technological applications in the field of artificial intelligence, whose importance and added value steadily increase globally .
