DHL Express, the world's leading international express provider, is pleased to announce it has served as the Official Logistics Partner for Egypt’s first Ironman 70.3. The race, held on November 19th under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, offered qualifying slots to the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.

During the press conference of the tournament, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, praised in a recorded speech via video conferencing the efforts of different ministries and their coordinated work for the success of the tournament. He stressed that Egypt possesses a strong infrastructure that helps to host various international and continental tournaments at the level of the world. The Minister wished success to all participants in the tournament in its first edition in Egypt, with the participation of 1,500 male and female players from 72 countries around the world.

DHL Express ensured the safe delivery of all the race’s equipment to Sahl Hasheesh in the Red Sea governorate. And, to further support the logistics of the race, it mobilized a van to remain on the ground to serve both; competitors and attendees as a mobile DHL office offering all its services. In addition, DHL Express offered attendees promocodes for discounts on shipping services.

Ironman 70.3 was held in Sahl Hasheesh and commenced with a 1.9-km swim loop in the Red Sea, followed by a one-lap out and back bike route through the arid deserts of Hurghada, overlooking the Red Sea mountains. The final leg sent competitors on a blissfully flat two-loop 21.1km run along the promenade, past local attractions and overlooking the Sahl Hasheesh bay.

Ahmed ElFangary, DHL Express Egypt Country Manager, said: “DHL Express has always been a keen partner for multiple global events in Egypt and around the world. This is why we have been always present as partners to major global and local events. As Official Logistics Partner to Ironman 70.3, our role was to ensure the delivery of all equipment needed for the race to take place. We are proudly committed to our partners and dedicated to offering innovative solutions for complex logistics challenges in the sports, arts, and culture arenas. Such world-class events enhance the profile of our brand and provide an excellent platform for people to experience DHL logistics live.”

He added: “DHL Express is pleased to be a partner to Egypt’s first ever Ironman triathlon – a sport that has been growing more popular in Egypt and the world. The race, made of three parts, also reflected the multimodal logistics services provided by DHL, whether maritime shipping, air transport, or road freight – all at the highest standards, the shortest times, and competitive rates.”

Hassan Khalifa, Cofounder of Stamina Sports and Fitness said: “We are very proud to be working with DHL – a global logistics expert with unmatched expertise in shipping and freight services. This experience was mirrored in the quality of service provided by DHL in bringing the event together and ensuring the safe delivery of all equipment. DHL presence and support also waived the burden of transporting back the equipment whether to Cairo or abroad for foreign racers, which ensures they enjoy a worry-free time in Egypt and allows them relax and enjoy their stay in Egypt after an exhausting race.”
