    Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the launch of electronic signature services "Delta Trust" in cooperation between Telecom Egypt WE and Delta Electronic Systems, which obtained a license to practice the activity of providing electronic signature services, and this comes within the framework of efforts to expand the provision of digital services to companies, institutions and individuals, including Supports the digital transformation strategy in Egypt.

    Under this cooperation with Delta Electronic Systems, Telecom Egypt WE, the first integrated operator of communications and information technology services in Egypt, provides electronic signature services to companies and individuals through its branches, sales centers and exchanges, which contributes to expanding the base of electronic signature use and raising work efficiency. administration and enhancing digital services provided to citizens.

    This step comes in line with the state’s orientation towards implementing a digital transformation strategy, whereby new services provide citizens with the necessary tools to deal with digital services, such as the services of the tax authority, customs, the Investment Authority, social insurance, and other governmental and non-governmental services that are automated, successively.

    Three main axes

    Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, explained that the ministry’s strategy is based on three main axes: providing more governance and easier services to the citizen, and developing a secure digital infrastructure that provides citizens with all digital services at a high level of efficiency, continuity and stability, in addition to creating a base of cadres capable of Achieving and building a digital Egypt;

    This event indicated that it combines these three pillars, as it represents a new stage in Egypt’s digital journey, given that activating the electronic signature system requires building a set of applications that depend on this important technology, which represents a qualitative leap in the services provided to citizens. Explaining the efforts made to raise the efficiency of the digital infrastructure to ensure its ability to provide electronic signature services and the services that depend on it in a stable and stable manner; He stressed the ministry's keenness that the launch of projects be accompanied by building specialized human cadres capable of managing and developing them.

    The administrative capital and electronic signature

    Dr. Amr Talaat added that this event reflects the concerted efforts of all elements of the ICT sector system in order to provide electronic signature services. He pointed out that the electronic signature system in Egypt was not previously activated due to the lack of applications that require electronic signature; He explained that it was started to be activated through the first axis, which is related to applications between government agencies, where the law enforcement system was launched; With the government moving to the new administrative capital, the employees of the administrative apparatus will practice their work using the electronic signature.

    He added the second axis is for companies through the application of the electronic invoice in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, and investment and corporate services will be launched with this technology; The third axis is the provision of citizen services that depend on this technology in cooperation with all state agencies, where cooperation with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs has been started to provide consular services using electronic signatures, which will be launched at the end of the year.

    Eng. Amr Mahfouz, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority, explained that the launch of this service comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to spread the uses of electronic signature on a large scale in cooperation with the private sector, which contributes to the governance of electronic activities and transactions. He pointed to the steady growth in the volume of electronic signature transactions, as it was about 3 million at the end of 2020, then it reached more than 153 million by the end of 2021, and then exceeded 197 million in the first half of this year. He stressed that this growth came as a result of launching a number of projects and services that were launched in cooperation with various parties based on electronic signature technology.

    For his part, Engineer Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of WE Telecom Egypt, said that the company "is keen to contribute effectively to all projects supporting the digital transformation strategy in Egypt, foremost of which is providing electronic signature services to individuals and companies in a way that enhances the efficiency of administrative work and the system of digital services provided to customers."

We have ambitious plans in cooperation with Delta Electronic Systems to expand the base of electronic signature users in Egypt.”
