Three full decades of resilience, leadership, and foresight regarding the technological future in
Egypt and the Middle East—this is how the 30th edition of the Cairo International Technology
Exhibition (Cairo ICT 2026) presents itself, proving that it is not merely an annual event, but the
primary engine of the digital economy in the region.
At the heart of this exceptional edition—held under the patronage of Raafat Hendy, Minister of
Communications and Information Technology, and featuring high-level ministerial and
international participation—the theme "AI in Action" officially signals the end of the era of
"theorizing" about artificial intelligence and the beginning of an era of "practical application" to
serve institutions and societies. Behind this success—which has spanned since 1996—lies a
sharp vision and an unwavering determination in the face of economic and geopolitical
challenges. Osama Kamal, the media figure and executive architect behind this massive
technological forum—as well as Chairman of "Trade Fairs International," the organizer of the
Cairo ICT exhibition and conference—emphasized that the 2026 edition is taking place amidst
both local and global economic challenges. Nevertheless, sponsors and exhibitors remain firmly
committed to participating and showcasing their latest technological solutions. He noted that
this year, the event shifts its focus from merely discussing artificial intelligence to
demonstrating its practical applications across various economic sectors, under the theme "AI
in Action."
Kamal stated that the endurance of Cairo ICT for 30 years reflects its resilience in overcoming
the many challenges and shifts experienced in Egypt, the region, and the world. He pointed out
that the exhibition has never ceased operations—persisting through economic crises, political
instability, and the COVID-19 pandemic—and has successfully continued its run even as other
events in Egypt and the region were postponed or canceled during 2026. An Integrated
Ecosystem with Press Participation
This was stated during the preparatory press conference for the 30th edition of the exhibition.
It was noted that the exhibition represents an integrated ecosystem—extending well beyond
the organizing company—that relies on the complementary roles of sponsors, exhibitors,
government entities, the media, the press, event organizers, and logistics providers. The
success and continuity of the event, it was emphasized, depend on the participation of all
stakeholders within this ecosystem. It was also highlighted that Egypt enjoys the blessing of
security and stability, despite the economic challenges and crises currently facing the local
market. Furthermore, it was noted that sponsors and exhibitors have shown a firm
commitment to participating in this year’s edition, eager to showcase their solutions and
technologies despite the prevailing economic conditions.
Kamal revealed that an extensive opening session will be held as part of this year’s edition,
featuring six government ministers—including the Minister of Communications and Information
Technology, as well as the Ministers of Electricity, Investment, Finance, and Water Resources and
Irrigation—to discuss the Egyptian state’s vision for the future of artificial intelligence
infrastructure.
The head of "Trade Fairs International"—the organizer of the CAISEC cybersecurity exhibition
and conference—announced the launch of an "AI Summit," scheduled for April 2027. Both
events reflect the growing interest in the cybersecurity and artificial intelligence sectors, driven
by the accelerating pace of digital transformation, the increasing reliance of organizations on
modern technologies to develop their businesses and enhance operational efficiency, and the
rising demand for advanced solutions to protect digital infrastructure and counter cyber
threats. It was explained that the CAISEC exhibition and conference will focus on the latest
cybersecurity technologies and solutions, as well as advancements in protecting systems,
networks, and data—a priority given the growing reliance on digital services and the expanding
scope of cyber threats facing organizations.
The AI Summit aims to highlight artificial intelligence applications and their development trends,
showcase the opportunities these technologies offer across various economic sectors, and discuss
the challenges associated with their adoption and implementation within organizations. Both
events serve as a platform for professionals in these fields to exchange expertise and discuss
technical developments—at a time when protecting digital assets and deploying AI applications
have become key agenda items for organizations seeking to strengthen their digital capabilities.
Kamal explained that the theme for this year’s edition, "AI in Action," builds upon the AI-focused
topics explored by the exhibition in previous years—notably a past edition themed "AI Everywhere,"
which highlighted the pervasive nature of artificial intelligence across all aspects of life.
He added that the focus this year has shifted beyond the mere presence of artificial intelligence to
its practical application, deployment, and utilization across various activities. This prompted the
exhibition organizers to select a range of key sectors to showcase the specific applications and
solutions available to them. The targeted sectors include healthcare, education, irrigation,
aviation, media, and entertainment. The objective is to provide practical models demonstrating
how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to develop services and economic activities, while also
identifying the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing these technologies.
Kamal warned of the impact that rapid developments in artificial intelligence may have on job
opportunities, particularly for young people and the general workforce.
particularly in sectors undergoing rapid technological transformation, noting that the current
shift could reshape the nature of many jobs—including those in journalism, design, and other
creative professions.
He added that while concerns regarding the impact of AI on employment are legitimate, they
should serve as a catalyst for developing professional skills and tools, rather than a reason to
withdraw from the labor market. He emphasized that the true challenge lies in the ability of
professionals to adapt to these new changes and maintain their competitiveness.
Regarding the media and entertainment sector, Kamal explained that the exhibition includes
three consecutive sessions dedicated to discussing the opportunities and challenges posed by
AI—addressing, in particular, concerns about how these new technologies might affect creative
and professional roles.
He noted that the goal of these discussions is to explore how new tools can be used to support
creators and enhance their output, rather than to replace the human element. He stressed that
the future of the creative industries requires solutions that integrate both human capabilities
and technological advancements.
With the participation of six ministers, the 30th edition of the "Cairo ICT 2026" exhibition : Osama Kamal: The exhibition’s "pearl jubilee" embraces the theme of action, with artificial intelligence steering the ship toward the future. - "AI in Action" is more than just a slogan—it represents a genuine shift from theoretical promises to practical applications in banking, healthcare, and education.
