ArpuPlus, a subsidiary of A15 and MENA’s biggest content aggregator with more than 400,000 pieces of diversified content, recently showcased its latest innovative services on the global stage during its participation at the ‘Messaging & SMS World Summit London 2019’ held at the Tower - A Guoman Hotel. ‘Messaging & SMS World’ is the largest annual gathering for the global messaging and SMS industry.

During the event, ArpuPlus engaged with SMS providers from around the world. The company’s delegates shared their latest experiences and knowledge regarding newest solutions, business models, and technologies, including fraud management systems, which are designed to enrich current business set-up in the industry.

Shady Aziz, Mobile Advertising Head, ArpuPlus, said: “The London event provided us with a strategic international platform to highlight the strengths and benefits of our services, specifically our company portfolio in SMS business. The company also took the opportunity to put the spotlight on the brand; forge new partnerships and strengthen existing ties with offshore SMS providers; and open new revenue streams through collaborations.”

“During the event, we learned as well the latest in the SMS market dynamics, chatbots, and Rich Communication Services (RCS), in addition to the newest global trends and developments. Participating in the summit was a productive experience for us,” Aziz added.

Further, the gathering enabled the company to network and do business with industry innovators, mobile network operators (MNOs), aggregators, carriers, and providers of over-the-top (OTT) messaging such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat.

The summit took place amid new challenges facing the SMS industry and A2P (application-to-person) business brought forth by the emergence of RCS, Whatsapp, and other similar modern applications. According to the latest statistics, WhatsApp has 1.6 billion users worldwide; Facebook Messenger, 1.3 billion; and WeChat, 1 billion.

Despite the challenges posed by new technologies, experts believe that normal SMS channel has still more room for growth, with one-time-password-related (OTP) traffic seen as one of the major contributors to its further use. In Egypt and some other countries in the region, for instance, the SMS business still continues to expand.

ArpuPlus is a leading provider of value-added services for mobile communications. Through technologies, it aims to make a difference in the lives of people in the MENA region.
