Majid Al Futtaim Retail has proudly participated in the second edition of the ‘Initiators Exhibition and Congress’, an annual event aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities. The exhibition was presented under the auspice of the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and attended by the Minister of Social Solidarity, H.E. Ms. Nivine El Kabbag, and H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

During the panel discussion on Independent Living, Mohamed Hassan, General Manager of Business Development at Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Egypt, showcased Carrefour’s efforts in implementing initiatives that support and empower individuals with disabilities.

Mohamed Hassan, General Manager of Business Development at Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Egypt, stated: "We are proud to be part of the solution, striving towards a world that provides equal opportunities for all. Our aim is to raise awareness around the rights of individuals with disabilities and build an inclusive society that extends beyond our colleagues and customers. We are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive experience that positively impacts the Egyptian community."

Aligning with Majid Al Futtaim Retail’s vision of inclusivity, Carrefour Egypt has trained its colleagues on how to support people with disabilities and launched over 47 initiatives. This includes training over 500 individuals with disabilities in Carrefour stores. Approximately 270 of these individuals have received job opportunities, with 27 percent of them being women. Meanwhile, 86 of these individuals have started their own businesses.

In addition, Carrefour Egypt became the first retail brand in the region to offer a simultaneous sign language interpretation service for customers with hearing impairments. By partnering with Merge, a leading information technology company specialising in innovative solutions for individuals with disabilities, the innovative service was made available across all Carrefour stores in 2022.

Dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all, Majid Al Futtaim Retail has taken a leading role in supporting and integrating people with disabilities into all aspects of life and society. Participation in the recent conference and exhibition marks its vision – and its success – in doing just that.
